Nines at Nine

Terms of Use

Version 2.0 · Effective [18.10.2026] · Replaces version 1.1 (21 September 2026)

Privacy Policy

These terms cover the whole Nines at Nine Android app as it launches: applying, the face check, the jury, the feed, Friday nights, payments, chats and your account. Version 2.0 replaces version 1.1, which covered the first build only.

In one paragraph. Nines at Nine is selective online speed dating for adults in India. A person reviews every application. Once you are in, members choose who they would rather meet on the jury, and those choices, with how your past dates went, decide who goes on Friday's list. Nobody is ever shown a score. On Friday you have short, private video dates from home, and only a mutual yes opens a chat. We do not run background checks on anyone. If you break the rules, we can remove you. Everything below says the same things in full.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Nines at Nine is a product of TechVortex Ventures Private Limited, a company incorporated in India under the Companies Act, 2013 (CIN U62013WB2024PTC269470, GSTIN 19AAKCT8808L1ZJ), with its registered office at 3A, 38N, New Santoshpur Main Road, Kolkata 700075, West Bengal, India ("we", "us", "our").

These Terms of Use ("terms") govern everything we offer under the Nines at Nine name (together, "the club"):

  • the Android app, and any other app we release under the Nines at Nine name;
  • our public pages, including the page where friends back an applicant and the grievance page;
  • the jury, the feed, Friday rooms and the video dates in them, chats, and your account and settings;
  • the messages we send by email and push notification, and in the app;
  • any support we give you, by email or otherwise.

Parts of the club open at different times, in different cities and for different age bands. A clause about a part of the club applies to you once that part is open to you. Nothing in these terms obliges us to open, keep open or expand any part of the club, in any city, for any age band, on any date.

What the club is not. Nines at Nine is not a marriage bureau, a matrimonial service, an escort or companionship service, a background-check service or a counselling service. We arrange short video introductions between adults who chose to take part. We do not arrange, supervise or vouch for anything that happens after them.

2. The agreement between us

When it starts

You accept these terms when you do any of the following: sign in, apply, back a friend, book a seat, take part in a night, or use any other part of the club. If you do not accept them, do not use the club. If you accept them, you confirm that you have read them and that you can enter a binding contract.

These terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it. A contract formed by electronic means is valid under section 10A of that Act and needs no physical or digital signature.

The documents that make up the agreement

  1. These terms, including the Community Standards in section 19 and the cancellation and refund rules in section 15.
  2. Our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data.
  3. Any feature rules we show in the app at the point you use a feature, such as the checkout screen, a promotion's conditions or the rules of a game.

If these documents conflict, these terms apply, unless a feature rule says expressly that it applies instead for that feature.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or any other law, that cannot be taken away by contract. Where a clause would do that, it applies only as far as the law allows.

4. Who can join, and the promises you make

Who can join

Each time you use the club, you confirm that all of these are true:

  1. You are at least 18 years old. There are no exceptions. A minor may not use the club, even with a parent's or guardian's permission.
  2. You can enter a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872.
  3. You are using the club for yourself, under your own name, with photos of yourself, and not on behalf of anyone else.
  4. You have never been convicted of, and are not charged with, any offence involving sexual misconduct, stalking, harassment, voyeurism, violence against a person, trafficking, or any offence under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, in India or elsewhere, and you are not on any sex offender register.
  5. No court order or bail condition stops you from contacting people in the way the club involves.
  6. We have not suspended or removed you before, and you are not trying to return after being removed.
  7. You have only one account. One person, one account, one Google sign-in.
  8. You are not barred from using the club by any law that applies to you, and you are not on a sanctions list.

The club is offered in India. You can apply from a city where we have no room yet; we keep your application until a room opens there, and we may never open one.

The promises you make

You promise that:

  • everything you tell us, in your application, your 9, your photos or anything else, is true, current and not misleading, and you will keep it so;
  • you are honest about your age, name and relationship status with us and with other members;
  • you will follow these terms, the Community Standards and the law, in the club and in anything that follows from it;
  • you will not let a matchmaker, agent, friend or anyone else use or run your account, and you will not use the club for anyone else.

We may check any of these points at any time, by any lawful means, including the checks in section 8, and may refuse or end your access if we are not satisfied. We are not obliged to check. If we do not notice that something you told us is false, the responsibility stays with you.

5. Your account and its security

  • Signing in. You sign in with Google. Firebase Authentication checks that sign-in. The email Google shares is where we send receipts and important notices.
  • Keep it secure. Keep your Google account and your phone to yourself, and keep your phone locked. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, unless you told us it was compromised before it happened.
  • If something is wrong. Sign out and tell us at admin@ninesatnine.com at once if you think someone else has used your account. We may freeze an account while we look into it.
  • No transfers. Your account, your member code, your seats, your credits and your chats are personal. You may not sell, transfer, lend or share them.
  • Your device. The club runs in the Android app. You are responsible for your phone, its software, its camera and microphone, your internet connection and any data charges.
  • Inactive accounts. If you do not sign in for 24 months, we may close your account after telling you 30 days before.

6. Applying and admission

How applying works

You apply with your basics (first name, date of birth, gender, city), one photo, a short note, and your consent. Applying is free. A person reviews the photo. We do not send it to a company that screens photos automatically.

How we decide

Admission is selective and entirely at our discretion. A person on our team reviews every application. We may consider your photo, your note, the completeness and accuracy of what you sent, how many people of each gender and age band are already in the club, anything we know about past conduct, and anything else reasonably relevant to the safety and experience of other members. A friend vouching for you does not decide admission.

We are not required to:

  • admit you, however many times you apply and whatever you have done in the club before;
  • give a reason for a decision, tell you who made it, or explain our criteria in more detail than this section;
  • offer a review or an appeal of an admission decision;
  • admit equal numbers of men and women, or open a room in your city or for your age band.

We do not decide on caste, religion, race, ethnicity, place of birth, disability or any other ground protected by the Constitution of India or by law. If you believe we did, write to the Grievance Officer (section 31) and we will look into it.

The decisions you may receive

  • You're in. You become a member. Membership is a personal, revocable permission to use the club under these terms. It is not property, and it gives you no right to any number of nights, invitations or dates.
  • One thing to fix. We ask you to change a photo or your answer. When you send it back, you keep your place.
  • Not this season. We cannot seat everyone who applies. You can apply again after the date we show you (90 days at launch). We delete the photos of people we do not admit 30 days after the decision.

We may also hold an application while we look at it more closely, and we may withdraw an admission before your first night if we learn something that would have changed our decision.

Your age band and your city

We place you in an age band from your date of birth (18 to 24, 25 to 32, 33 to 39, or 40 and over) and recalculate it each month. You may be admitted before rooms open for your age band. Until they do, parts of the club stay closed to you, and the app tells you so.

7. Friends backing you

While your application is waiting, you can share a link that lets friends vouch for you. Each friend signs in with Google and confirms their first name.

  • Backing is optional. Nobody needs to be backed to be reviewed or admitted, and backing never affects the jury or Friday's list.
  • You see the first names of the friends who backed you. They see only your first photo, first name, city and your 9 on the backing page.
  • A friend may back you only once. Backing yourself, using numbers that are not real people, buying, selling or trading backings, or asking strangers in bulk is a serious breach. We may discount any backing we think is not genuine, and we do not have to say why.
  • If you vouch for someone, you confirm that you know them personally, that the Google account you use is yours, and that they may see your first name. Vouching for someone is not a recommendation we rely on, and you are not responsible for their conduct.

8. Identity, age and face checks

The face check

Before you are shown on the jury, can post in the feed or can be considered for a Friday, you take a live face check through Didit. It checks that you are a real, live person and compares you with your profile photo.

  • We send Didit that photo and your member id. We keep the outcome and how many times you tried. We do not keep the live session or a face template.
  • If the check has been tried three times, a person on our team reviews it.
  • If you refuse or cannot pass the face check, you cannot be shown on the jury, post, or attend a night, and we may end your membership.

Further checks

Where we have reason to suspect impersonation, a person under 18, fraud or a safety risk, or where a law or a lawful authority requires it, we may ask you to confirm your identity or age in another way, for example by showing an identity document to a person on our team or by repeating the face check. If you show an Aadhaar card, it must be masked so that only the last four digits are visible. We record only that the check was done, the type of document and the last four characters of its number, and we do not keep an image of the document or send it to Didit. If you refuse, we may suspend or end your membership.

No check is a background check. A face check or identity check confirms only that a live person resembles their photos or documents at that moment. It does not confirm anyone's honesty, history, intentions, relationship status or safety, and we do not run criminal record, sex offender, employment, financial, marital or health checks on anyone.

9. Your photos, your 9 and your content

What your content must be

  • Photos. Every photo must be of you alone, recent, and unedited apart from ordinary crop and colour. Your face must be clearly visible in every photo. No screenshots, no group photos, no children, no photos of anyone else, no nudity or sexual poses, and no images made or altered by AI. Using another person's likeness is a serious breach (section 22).
  • Your 9. You choose one 9s category and answer one of its prompts. Your answer must be your own words and must not contain a phone number, email address, link, social media handle or anything that identifies another person. You can change your answer at any time and your category once a month. Changing your category starts you fresh in that category's jury.
  • All content must follow the Community Standards (section 19). You are solely responsible for your content and for the consequences of sharing it.

Where it appears

  • Your photos, first name, age and your 9 are shown to members of the other side on the jury, to your date partners at the start of each date, and to anyone with whom you have a mutual yes.
  • If you post in the feed, your first name and one photo appear beside the post to all members in your city, on both sides.
  • If you share your backing link, your first photo (watermarked "Shared with you"), first name, city and your 9 are shown to anyone who opens it. This is the only place your photo can be seen without signing in, and only because you chose to share the link.
  • Your phone number, email and date of birth are never shown to other members.
  • Photos of other members carry a faint watermark with the viewer's own member code, so a leaked image can be traced to the account it came from.

The licence you give us

You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence, for as long as your content is in the club, to host, store, copy, resize, crop, compress, adapt for format, display and transmit it, only to run, check, moderate, secure and improve the club and to meet our legal duties. We may let providers who act on our instructions do the same (Privacy Policy, section 8).

  • We will never use your photos, your 9, your feed posts or anything you said on a date in advertising, social media or any public material without your separate written consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law, need to establish, use or defend a legal claim, or hold in backups until they expire on their normal cycle.
  • You confirm that you own or have every right needed for your content, that it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law, and that anyone who appears in it (which should be only you) agreed.

Checking and removing content

We check content automatically and may have a person review it. We may refuse, hold, hide, edit for format, or remove any content at any time, with or without notice, if we believe it breaks these terms or the law or puts anyone at risk. We are not obliged to monitor content, and we are not responsible for content that members create or send, but we act on it when we learn of it.

Our role as an intermediary

For content that members upload or send to each other, we act as an intermediary under section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000. We do not start the transmission, choose who receives it or change it, except to moderate it under these terms. We follow the due diligence that the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, as amended in 2026, require of us. That includes publishing these terms, appointing a Grievance Officer, removing unlawful content when we are required to, keeping the records the law requires, and reminding members of these rules at least once every three months.

10. The jury

How it works

  • Once you are in, you get one jury session a day. Each session shows you pairs of members of the other side, both from the same 9s category, and asks: "Who would you rather meet?" You choose one, or Neither.
  • Women choose between men and men choose between women. A non-binary member tells us when they apply who they want to meet, and is shown to that side.
  • You can vote before your face check, but your choices count only once you pass it. You are shown to others only after you pass it.
  • To be considered for a Friday, you need to make a minimum number of choices that cycle (shown in the app; 20 at launch). We waive this if there was nobody left for you to consider.

How choices are used

Members' choices are combined by software into an internal standing for each member within their own 9s category. Each Sunday evening, software combines that standing with how your past dates went (section 16), applies the eligibility rules in section 12, and proposes Friday's list. A person on our team reviews the proposed list and can change it. If it has not been approved by the release time, the proposed list is released as it stands.

  • Nobody is ever shown a score, a rating, a rank or a percentile, about themselves or anyone else. We do not tell you who chose you, who did not, how often you were shown, or why you were or were not invited.
  • Being chosen or not chosen says nothing about your worth. It reflects which of two people a set of members would rather meet that week.
  • Being admitted does not entitle you to a place on Friday's list in any week, or to any number of nights.
  • The way we build sessions and lists, including the numbers we use, may change at any time.

Vote honestly

You must make your own choices, in good faith. You must not vote at random, use scripts, bots or other tools, share your account, coordinate votes with others, offer or accept anything for votes, or try to work out or influence anyone's standing. Some pairs are checks of the jury itself. Choices made too fast to be considered are not counted. We may set aside the votes of anyone we believe is not voting honestly, without telling them, and treat it as a breach.

Use "I know this person" if you see someone you know. Neither of you will be shown to the other again on the jury or in the feed, and we will not put you in the same room.

11. Lobby/Feed

The feed shows introductions from new members and answers to themed prompts, from members of both sides in your city.

  • Only members who have passed the face check can post, up to the daily limit shown in the app. Posts show your first name and one photo.
  • Posts must follow section 9 (no contact details, links or handles) and the Community Standards.
  • There are no likes, comments or counts. You must not use the feed to contact, solicit, advertise, campaign or promote anything.
  • We check posts automatically and may hold a post for review. If three members report a post, it is hidden until we decide. We may remove any post without notice.
  • You can delete your own post at any time. It disappears at once and is erased that night.

12. Friday's list, booking and standby

The week

The times are shown in the app, and the app governs if it differs from this section. At launch they are: the jury closes on Sunday at 9 pm, Friday's list is released on Monday at 9 pm, places not paid for expire on Wednesday at 9 pm, seats lock on Friday at 7 pm, check-in runs from 8:50 to 8:58 pm, and the night starts at 9 pm. All times are India time, and our server's clock decides them, not your phone's.

Who is invited

Each cycle we invite a set number of members per side for each room (15 at launch) for a smaller number of seats (9 at launch). To be considered you must be a member with a face check valid through the Friday, not suspended, with no open serious report about you, with enough jury choices that cycle (section 10), in an age band and city with a room that week. We decide how many rooms run, which bands and members each room draws from, and who goes in which room. We may remove someone from the list, add someone to it, or move someone to another room, for safety, balance or operational reasons.

How places work

  • Held seats. If you were on standby the week before, your seat is held for you. Pay for it by the Wednesday deadline or it is released to others and your guarantee ends.
  • Open seats. The other seats go to whoever on the list pays first. A seat is yours only once your payment is confirmed (section 13).
  • Standby. When the open seats are all taken, everyone else on the list who has not paid becomes a standby.
  • Seats that open up. If a seat becomes free before Friday at 7 pm, we tell every standby on that side at the same moment. The first to pay takes it. Taking it gives up next Friday's guaranteed seat; we say so before you pay.
  • Other members. If seats are still open after the Wednesday deadline and no standby takes them, we may offer them to members who were not on the list.
  • Not this week. If you are not on Friday's list, we do not message you about it. The app shows it, and the jury stays open for the next cycle.

The guarantee, and its conditions

Anyone on Friday's list gets a seat this Friday or next, as long as they keep to these conditions:

  1. The guarantee belongs to standbys: members who were on the list when the open seats ran out and had not paid.
  2. A standby's seat the following Friday is held only if, on that Friday, they still have a valid face check, are not suspended and have no open serious report about them, and they pay by that week's Wednesday deadline.
  3. There is no guarantee if you decline your place ("I can't make it"), release a held seat, or leave a place unpaid at the Wednesday deadline while open seats were still available. In those cases your place simply ends.
  4. A guarantee is used once, cannot be transferred, and has no cash value.
  5. [If we do not run a room for your city and age band that Friday, the guarantee moves to the next room we run there.]

Rooms that cannot run

If fewer than six people are paid and ready on either side at Friday 7 pm, 8 pm or 8:59 pm, we cancel the room. Section 15 says what you receive.

What a seat is

A seat is a personal, non-transferable right to join one online room on the night shown on your ticket, from your own phone, under these terms. There is nothing to ship or deliver; your ticket appears in the app once your payment is confirmed, and the service is delivered when the night takes place. Seats may not be resold, gifted or transferred, and a seat used by someone other than the member who booked it will be cancelled without refund.

13. Prices, payment and taxes

  • Prices are shown before you pay, in Indian rupees, and include GST. Prices can differ by city, by night and by side of the room, and we may change them at any time; a change does not affect a seat you have already paid for. The price that applies is the one on the checkout screen when you pay.
  • Payment is processed by Google Play under its own terms and the Play payment method on your Google account. We never see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, bank login or Google Play password. We are not responsible for delays, failures or charges caused by your bank, card network, UPI app or Google Play.
  • Holds. When you start checkout we hold a seat for you for 12 minutes. If your bank is still confirming a payment when the hold runs out, we extend it once by 15 minutes.
  • A seat is paid only when our server has confirmed the purchase with Google Play. A message on your screen alone does not book a seat.
  • Late payments. If your payment arrives after the seat has gone to someone else, we refund it in full automatically and tell you.
  • Receipts and invoices. We email a receipt and a GST invoice for every payment. You are responsible for any taxes or charges your bank adds.
  • Mistakes. If a price, credit or seat was shown or charged because of an obvious error, we may cancel the booking and refund what you paid, or ask you to pay the correct amount before the booking stands.
  • Disputes and fraud. If you dispute with your bank a payment that was correctly charged for a seat you were given, we may pause your bookings until the dispute is settled and recover the amount and any fees. We may refuse or cancel a payment we reasonably suspect is fraudulent or made with someone else's account, and report it.

14. Credits and promotions

  • Credits pay for future seats only. They are applied automatically at checkout, oldest first. If your credit covers the whole price, you pay nothing.
  • Credits are valid for 12 months from the day they are given. They belong to you alone, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for money, and have no cash value, including when your account is closed.
  • Credit from a cancellation can be used once. If you later cancel a seat paid for with that credit, you receive no further credit.
  • We may reverse credit given by mistake or obtained by breaking these terms. Credits are lost if we remove you for a breach.
  • Promotions, discount codes or gifted credit may come with their own conditions, shown when they are offered. Unless those conditions say otherwise, they are one per member, cannot be combined, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn if misused. Friends backing you never earn credit or rewards.

15. Cancellations and refunds

This section is our cancellation and refund policy.

  • Refunds go only back through Google Play to the original payment method. We start refunds within two working days (automatic refunds start at once); Google Play and your bank usually take further time to show the money.
  • Where you owe us money, we may set it off against a refund or credit.
  • Nothing in this table limits a refund the law requires us to give.

16. The Friday night

What happens

After check-in and a short wait in the Green Room, you have a series of short one-to-one video dates with members of the other side, as shown in the app. A date may include a conversation card and a short game. Some games use the answers you wrote to that week's game prompts before Friday 7 pm, and those answers may be shown to the people you meet that night. In a round without a partner, you wait in The Bar. The night ends with the Reveal.

We set the timetable, the number of rounds and who meets whom, and we may change them on the night. We do not promise a particular number of dates, a particular balance of people, or that anyone will attend, stay, behave as you hope, or be interested in you.

Where you join from

  • Join from a private, quiet, well-lit place, alone. Nobody else may be on camera, watching or listening.
  • Never join while driving or anywhere it is unsafe to look at your phone.
  • You need a working camera, microphone and internet connection, and you must keep the app open on screen with your face visible. If your camera is off, we warn you; if it stays off, we end the date and record a strike.
  • If your connection drops, you have 25 seconds to reconnect; after that the date is lost and counts as a "No" for both people. We never tell your partner it was your fault, and we never tell you it was theirs.
  • We may end any date, or take anyone out of the night, at any time, for safety or for breaking these terms.

Answers after each date

After each date you have 60 seconds to answer privately: Conversation, Chemistry and Respect (1 to 10) and Meet again? Yes or No. Dates you leave blank can be answered until Saturday 9:57 pm, after which a blank counts as No. Answers are final once you tap Done. Answer honestly, and only about the date you had.

  • Your partner never sees your answers.
  • "Meet again" decides mutual yeses.
  • Chemistry and Conversation answers you receive help us choose future rooms. They count only once you have five dates with answers, and only from the last 45 days.
  • Respect answers help us spot conduct problems. Two low Respect answers from different people lead to a review by us.

The Reveal

At the end of the night, you see only your own mutual yeses. A one-sided yes is never revealed to anyone, in any screen or message. Mutual yeses formed by late answers arrive as a message after the night, outside quiet hours.

Nothing is recorded

We do not record video, audio or transcripts of any date. Video passes through Agora in real time, encrypted, and is not stored. You must not record, screenshot, stream or capture any part of a date (section 20).

17. Mutual yeses, chats and meeting in person

  • Each mutual yes opens a private chat between the two of you. Chats carry text and emoji only. Links appear as plain text.
  • Closing a chat ends it for both of you. Blocking also ends it, and stops you seeing each other anywhere in the club, including on the jury, in the feed and in rooms.
  • We do not read chats as a matter of course. If you report a chat, you choose which messages to send us, and we review those. We may also review chats where the law requires it or a serious safety concern arises.
  • Chat history is deleted 30 days after a chat closes. Keep nothing you would not want deleted.
  • Do not share your phone number, address, workplace or social media until you are comfortable. When you do, it is your choice and your responsibility.
  • Meeting in person is your decision and at your own risk (section 23). We do not arrange, attend or supervise meetings. Everything in these terms about conduct applies to chats and to anything that follows them, online or in person.

18. Messages we send you

  • You agree to receive service messages about your account, application, bookings, nights, safety and these terms, by email, by push notification through Firebase Cloud Messaging, or in the app. Service messages are not marketing.
  • Offers and news are email only, sent through Amazon SES, and only if you turned them on. Every marketing email has a one-tap unsubscribe.
  • Our messages never include photos, surnames, phone numbers, chat content, or anything about votes or answers. Other members' first names appear only if you turn that on. We respect the quiet hours in your settings, except for urgent messages such as check-in and safety.
  • Our records of what we sent, and when, are evidence of delivery to the number or address on your account.

19. Community Standards

Four rules carry the club: be the person in your photos, turn up, keep your camera on, and treat everyone as you would in a room you were invited into. In full, you must not, anywhere in the club or in anything that follows from it, online or in person:

Honesty

  1. Pretend to be someone else, use another person's photos or details, or lie about your age, name, relationship status or anything else material.
  2. Create more than one account, or return after being removed, under any name or number.
  3. Upload images made or altered by AI to look like you or anyone else, or any morphed or fake image of a real person.

Respect and safety

  1. Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, bully, abuse, demean or shame anyone, or keep contacting someone who has blocked you, closed a chat or said no.
  2. Use language or symbols that are obscene, hateful, casteist, communal, racist, sexist, homophobic or transphobic, or attack anyone for a protected characteristic.
  3. Show nudity or sexual activity, share sexual content, or send sexual messages that were not wanted. Anything sexual involving a minor is reported to the police.
  4. Show or mention weapons, threaten violence, glorify violence or self-harm, or mention self-harm to frighten or pressure someone.
  5. Join a date drunk or high to a degree that affects how you behave, use illegal drugs on camera, or encourage anyone to do so.
  6. Join a date with your camera off, your face hidden, heavy filters, someone else on camera, or anyone else watching or listening.

Privacy

  1. Ask for or share another member's contact details, address, workplace, social media or any other personal information before a mutual yes, or pass on anything you learn about a member to anyone.
  2. Record, screenshot, stream or share any part of a date, a chat, a feed post or another member's photos or profile (section 20).
  3. Use the club for journalism, research, marketing, influencer content or any publication about other members, without our written consent and theirs.

Money and commerce

  1. Ask for money, loans, investment, gifts, cryptocurrency or financial details; sell, promote or advertise anything; recruit for any business, cause, scheme or multi-level marketing; or offer or seek paid companionship or sexual services.
  2. Campaign for any political party or candidate, or try to convert anyone to a religion or belief.

Law and the club itself

  1. Upload or share anything that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, paedophilic, invasive of another person's privacy (including bodily privacy), insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, related to money laundering or gambling, harmful to a child, infringing of anyone's intellectual property, knowingly false or misleading, impersonating anyone, or otherwise prohibited by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
  2. Threaten the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States or public order, or encourage any offence.
  3. Upload malicious code; probe, scan, scrape, copy, frame, reverse engineer or overload the club; use bots, scripts or automation; get around any limit, check or control; or access another person's account or our systems.
  4. Use anything from the club, including photos, answers, conversations or behaviour, to build or train any product, dataset or AI model.
  5. Manipulate the jury, backings, bookings, standby offers, credits or reports, or make a report or complaint you know to be false.
  6. Help, encourage or arrange for anyone else to do any of the above.

This list gives examples; it is not complete. We may act on any conduct that, in our reasonable judgement, harms another member's safety, privacy or experience, or the club, including conduct outside the club that we learn about from a credible source.

20. Other members' privacy, recording and screenshots

The club works only if members can trust that what they show here stays here.

  • No screenshots, screen recordings, photos of the screen or audio recordings of anything in the club, by any device or software. Browsers cannot block screenshots, so this rule depends on you.
  • Other members' photos carry a faint watermark with your member code, and we keep records that let us trace an image that leaves the club back to the account it came from.
  • Do not save, download, copy, forward, post or describe publicly anything about another member: their photos, their 9, their feed posts, anything said on a date, or anything in a chat. This applies during and after your membership, for as long as the information is not public through no fault of yours.
  • Do not try to find, follow or contact a member outside the club using what you learned in it, unless they gave you their details after a mutual yes.
  • Capturing or sharing images of a person without consent, and stalking, may be offences under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. We will help the person affected, preserve the records we hold, and cooperate with the police.

Breaking this section is a serious breach. We may remove you permanently on the first occasion, and we may take legal action to protect our members and the club.

21. Reports, investigations and enforcement

Reporting

You can report a member from the jury, a feed post, a date or a chat, or by writing to the Grievance Officer. During a date, a report ends the date for both of you at once, and you will not meet or see that person again. Reports of nudity, a person who seems under 18, or threats remove that person from the night immediately and reach us at once.

What we do

  • We review reports and act on them. Complaints about content showing nudity, sexual acts or a person's private areas, or impersonating someone (including morphed or AI-made images), are acted on within 2 hours.
  • We may investigate in the way we think fit, including by reviewing the account history, the records described in our Privacy Policy, and messages a member chose to send us. We are not obliged to investigate every report fully, and we may act without a report.
  • While we investigate, we may suspend an account, hold its bookings, hide its content or remove it from the jury, without that being a finding against anyone.
  • We do not tell a member who reported them, or show them the report, where that could put anyone at risk.
  • Making a report you know to be false is itself a serious breach.

Authorities and evidence

We preserve records and cooperate with the police, courts and other lawful authorities, and we disclose information to them when the law requires or allows it (Privacy Policy, section 8). Where we have reason to believe a child has been harmed or put at risk, or where a law otherwise requires it, we report to the authorities without telling the person concerned.

22. Strikes, suspension, removal and appeals

Depending on what happened, we may take no action, warn you, give a strike, remove content, ask you to repeat the face check or confirm your identity, limit what you can do, pause your bookings, suspend you, or remove you permanently. We decide what is proportionate. For serious conduct one incident is enough for permanent removal.

ConductOutcome
Missing check-in for a paid seatA strike, and the seat is lost
Three missed check-ins within 90 daysNo bookings for 60 days
Keeping your camera off after our warning during a dateThe date ends and you receive a strike
Harassment, nudity, threats or impersonation, once our review upholds itPermanent removal
Recording or sharing anything from the clubPermanent removal is likely, on the first occasion
Reason to believe a member is under 18Immediate suspension while we check
Fraud, a second account or returning after removalPermanent removal of every account involved
  • Strikes expire after 90 days and are listed in Settings with the reason and expiry date. Strikes can add up to suspension or removal.
  • You can appeal each strike once, in writing, from Settings, within 30 days. A different person on our team reviews it and we reply within 7 days.
  • To appeal a suspension or removal, write to the Grievance Officer (section 31) within 30 days. Admission decisions cannot be appealed.
  • If we remove you, no refund is due, your credit is lost, and you may not apply again or open another account. We may keep the details needed to stop you returning (Privacy Policy, section 11).

23. Safety, and your own risk

  • We do not run criminal record, sex offender, employment, financial, marital or health checks on anyone. Face and identity checks confirm only that a live person resembles their photos or documents.
  • Being admitted, being invited to a Friday, being chosen on the jury or receiving a mutual yes is not an endorsement of anyone's character, honesty, intentions or safety. Members' statements are their own; we do not check them.
  • You take part in the club, talk to other members and meet anyone at your own risk. You are responsible for your own decisions and interactions, online and offline.
  • If you meet someone: meet in a busy public place the first time, tell a friend where you will be and when, arrange your own transport, stay in control of your drink, and never send money, identity documents or intimate images.
  • We are not part of, and are not responsible for, anything that happens between members outside the club, including any meeting, message, relationship, transaction, loss or harm. To the extent the law allows, you release us from claims arising from another member's conduct. We will still act on our side and cooperate with any lawful investigation.
  • The club is not a substitute for professional help. If you feel distressed during or after a date, leave the date and look after yourself.
  • In an emergency, call the police on 112. Women can also call the Women Helpline on 181. To report cyber crime, call 1930 or use cybercrime.gov.in. For mental health support, call Tele-MANAS on 14416. Please also tell us at admin@ninesatnine.com.

24. Our intellectual property

  • The club, the name and marks "Nines at Nine", our logos, words, designs, conversation cards, games, prompts, code, data, and the way we select members and run rooms belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law.
  • We give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the club as intended while you have access to it. You may not copy, adapt, frame, mirror, sell, license, publish or build on any part of it, or use our name or marks, without our written consent.
  • If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback, we may use them freely and without owing you anything.
  • If you believe content in the club infringes your rights, write to the Grievance Officer with the content, your rights in it, and your contact details. We will act as the law requires.
  • If you find a security weakness, tell us at admin@ninesatnine.com and give us reasonable time to fix it. Do not access, change or keep anyone's data, disrupt the club, or make the weakness public.

25. Outside services and links

The club relies on other companies for some features: Google Firebase (sign-in, push notifications and, if you allow it, analytics), Google Play (payments), Agora (video and chat), Didit (the face check), MongoDB (the member database) and Amazon Web Services (photo storage and email). When you use these features, their own terms and policies may also apply. The Privacy Policy lists what each one receives. We are not responsible for an outside service's own acts, failures, outages, content or terms, or for any website, form or app we link to.

26. Changes, availability and trials

  • We may add, change, pause, limit or withdraw any feature, room, city, age band, schedule, rule, price or the whole club, at any time, including at short notice. Where a change affects a seat you have paid for, section 15 applies.
  • We may take the club offline for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control. We try to avoid Friday nights, but we do not promise the club will always be available.
  • We may run parts of the club as a trial, which may be incomplete, may behave differently for different members, and may change or end without notice.

27. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows:

  • The club is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no promises or warranties beyond those written in these terms, and we exclude all implied warranties, including of quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
  • We do not promise that the club will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free of errors or harmful code, that faults will be fixed by a particular time, or that video or audio will work on your device or connection.
  • We do not promise that anything another member says, shows or writes is true, or that any member is who they say they are beyond what our checks show.
  • We do not promise that you will be admitted, invited to a Friday, chosen on the jury, or receive any mutual yes, date, relationship, marriage or other outcome.
  • Nothing in the club is professional, legal, medical, psychological or relationship advice.

28. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows:

  1. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss, or for loss of profit, income, opportunity, goodwill, data, reputation or enjoyment, however caused, even if we were told it was possible.
  2. We are not liable for the conduct, statements or content of any member or other person, online or offline, or for any loss, injury, distress or harm arising from any meeting, message, relationship or transaction between members.
  3. We are not liable for failures of your device, connection, bank, payment app or any outside service, or for events beyond our reasonable control (section 33).
  4. Our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the club, together, is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the three months before the event that caused the claim, or ₹5,000.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Our prices reflect this sharing of risk; without it we could not offer the club at these prices.

29. Your indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless TechVortex Ventures Private Limited and its directors, officers, employees, contractors and agents against all claims, demands, proceedings, losses, damages, penalties, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • your use of the club, or anyone's use of your account through your fault;
  • your content;
  • your breach of these terms, the Community Standards or any law;
  • anything false or misleading you told us or another member;
  • your conduct towards any member or other person, in or outside the club, and any dispute between you and another member.

We may take control of the defence of any such claim, and you will cooperate with us.

30. Leaving, and being removed

  • You can leave at any time from Settings, Delete account. You have 7 days to change your mind by signing in and choosing "Keep my account". After that we delete your account and data as the Privacy Policy describes. A seat you have paid for is treated as cancelled on the day you asked to leave (section 15).
  • You can download a copy of your data from Settings before you go.
  • We may suspend or end your access, remove your content, cancel a booking, or refuse future applications, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have broken these terms, put anyone at risk, given us false information, harmed the club or its reputation, or if the law or a lawful authority requires it. Section 15 says what happens to payments.
  • When your access ends, your licence to use the club ends. Sections 9 (for copies we may keep), 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 27 to 33 continue to apply.

31. Grievances and contact

Under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (as amended in 2026) and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, our Grievance Officer is:

  • Complaints about content showing nudity, sexual acts or a person's private areas, or impersonating someone (including morphed or AI-made images), are acted on within 2 hours, at any time.

Please include your registered email, what happened, when, and anything that supports your complaint. We may ask for more information before we can act.

32. Law and disputes

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or relating to them or the club, are governed by the laws of India.

  1. Talk to us first. Before starting any proceedings, raise the matter with the Grievance Officer and give us 30 days to resolve it.
  2. Arbitration. A dispute not resolved that way goes to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, before a sole arbitrator appointed by agreement within 30 days of a written request, or failing agreement, by a recognised arbitral institution or the competent court under section 11 of that Act. Neither side may appoint the arbitrator alone. The seat and venue are Kolkata, the language is English, and the award is final and binding. Each side bears its own costs unless the arbitrator decides otherwise.
  3. Courts. Subject to the above, the courts at Kolkata have exclusive jurisdiction. Either side may seek urgent interim relief from any competent court.
  4. Consumers. If you are a consumer, you may take a dispute to a consumer commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 instead of arbitration.
  5. Time limits. Where the law allows a contract to shorten the time for bringing a claim, any claim must be brought within one year of the event that caused it. Where the law does not allow this, including under section 28 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, the normal limitation period applies.

33. General

  • Events beyond our control. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as failures of the internet, power, telecom networks or outside services, cyber attacks, natural events, epidemics, strikes, war, unrest, or government orders.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer these terms or any rights under them. We may transfer them to a group company, a successor, or a buyer of all or part of our business.
  • Severability. If a court or arbitrator finds part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, that part is changed as little as needed to make it valid, and the rest stands.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a term, or delay doing so, we have not given it up.
  • No partnership. These terms do not create a partnership, employment, agency, fiduciary relationship or joint venture between you and us, or between members.
  • No third-party rights. Only you and we can enforce these terms.
  • Our records. Our system records of bookings, payments, check-ins, answers, messages sent and actions taken are evidence of what happened, unless shown to be wrong.
  • Notices. We contact you through the app or by email. You contact us in writing at the address in section 31. A notice sent by email is received when sent, unless we learn it failed.
  • Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. The current version is always in the app with its effective date. Before a material change takes effect, we tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using the club after that date, the new terms apply; if you do not accept them, stop using the club and delete your account. Seats already paid for follow the terms that applied when you paid.
  • Whole agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy and any feature rules are the whole agreement between us about the club and replace anything said or written before.
  • Language. The English version governs. A translation is for convenience only.
